Lead Supportability Engineer

A Lead Supportability Engineer is required to work on a permanent contract for our defence client based in Luton.

This is a permanent role with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Lead Supportability Engineer Permanent role

They will be responsible for providing technical direction and oversight across all the allocated Supportability activities. The Lead Supportability Engineer will apply their experience, knowledge and expertise to ensure that associated work packages are appropriately planned, managed and delivered in accordance with agreed schedules and budgets.

Review supportability engineering plans and provide feedback to authors.
Interface with customers to scope out the required Supportability Engineering level of effort.
Provide Supportability Engineering inputs and estimates into the bid process.
Manage Supportability Engineering deliverables to the customer.
Monitor progress of Supportability Engineering tasks in accordance with agreed schedules and budgets.
Manage the performance of direct reports and support the Supportability Engineering team leaders in managing their teams.
For delegated areas of responsibility, ensure that Supportability Engineering is adequately represented during product development in order to influence design.
Actively contribute to a culture of best practice sharing, knowledge exploitation and process improvement in order to develop longer term Supportability Engineering capability and expertise.
Personally coach and mentor others within the Supportability Engineering group to ensure clear development of self and teamKey skills required for the Lead Supportability Engineer

Typically meets the requirement for registration of a professional body (e.g CEng).
Solid background of Supportability Engineering in the defence environment.
Evidence of the planning and application of Supportability Engineering activities on a range of projects throughout the lifecycle.
Understanding of the product life cycle and role of Supportability Engineering in Systems engineering.
In depth knowledge of at least one Supportability Engineering speciality, with experience of using related techniques, tools, processes and standards.
Good standard of spoken / written English and technical report and proposal writing.
Experienced in the business winning process, including preparation of supportability task estimates for bids and proposals, identification of risks (and mitigations) and opportunities.
Ability to develop customer in-service support solutions using a range of contracting options.The following skills and experience are desirable:

Able to apply statistical analysis techniques in Supportability Engineering work
Use of spares modelling and spares optimisation tools.
Supportability Analysis tasks, trade off studies, data records and database tools.
Life Cycle Cost modelling.
FTA, RCM and Reliability / Maintainability analysis and testing.
