The farm is based Near Thirsk - YO7 4EJ
Hours for the role will be 6 days a week. 07:30 - 16:00.

Purpose of the role:

Working closely with the Farm Management team, the Assistant Farm Manager will assist with managing, on a day to day basis, this company laying farm. This role would suit an ambitious individual that is looking to progress within the company.

Reporting into the Farm Manager, the Assistant Farm Manager's main responsibility is for the well being and performance of the livestock, although this will by definition, extend to the up keep and appearance of the site as a whole.

Other key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the Farm Manager in ensuring all aspects of managing the farm are met from in-take to depletion.
• Ensuring the welfare of livestock, feed ordering, ventilation management, vaccination, record keeping etc. are met.
• Ensuring site maintenance whilst complying with both legislative and Avara Foods standards and maintaining accurate records.
• Ensuring that high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and husbandry practice are maintained at all times.
• Covering in the Farm Manager's absence, supervising staff and third parties whilst on site, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety procedures.

What we are looking for:

• Previous livestock experience, not necessarily poultry but an excellent stock person.
• The ability to run and maintain a farm with limited guidance once trained.
• Effective communication and people skills are essential.
• Own transport is essential and to live within a commutable distance to the Farm.
• Ability to carry out manual duties and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Due to Bird Welfare, it is important that you do not possess any avian pets/poultry.
