We are looking for a committed and experienced Mental Health Support Worker to join a talented and collaborative Student Support Services team in our successful and inclusive sixth form college. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to our students’ experience at Bilborough and their life chances by ensuring they are well supported and guided to achieve their full potential throughout their journey at college, enabling them to progress successfully to the next stage of their working lives.

Through the delivery of high quality 1:1 and group sessions with allocated students aged 16 to 19 on level 3 programmes, you will be responsible for delivering focused interventions to build confidence and motivate students to attend their timetabled lessons and undertake the independent study required to complete their course.

Ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of the students is important and, in achieving this, you will work closely with the College’s Welfare Officer, Wellbeing Coach, Counsellors, Personal Tutors and the Safeguarding Team. You will be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the impact the support has on student retention, attendance and progression. You will have knowledge and appreciation of the range of activities, opportunities, and organisations that can be drawn upon to provide additional support for students and encourage independence.

If you have a positive, proactive approach, enjoy working with and challenging young people to achieve their full potential and are able to work collaboratively as part of a busy team we would love to hear from you. In addition, you will need to have professional experience of supporting young people with mental health conditions and a related qualification would be advantageous.

We are a Sixth Form College with a diverse student community. We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates as they are under-represented within our teaching staff.

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in our care and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff appointments are subject to pre-employment screening including DBS clearance. We are an equal opportunities employer.
