The Centre for Ageing Better has a unique opportunity for an experienced Communications professional to join our team as a Media Officer. If you are a hands-on individual with experience of planning, drafting and selling in content to a full range of media outlets we want to hear from you.

As Communications Officer (media) you will be working within a highly focused team and will carry out media relations work and provide editorial, strategic, creative and operational support to the Communications team and other staff. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational, time management, communication and digital skills with fast writing skills and the ability to absorb often long and complex policy issues quickly to turn them into compelling clear content.You will be conscientious and proactive in your approach to securing media coverage and be confident in regularly talking to and building relationships with journalists from across national, online, broadcast and trade publications. You will take a journalistic view of our work and issues in order to create news hooks and generate news worthy stories that carry our messages and calls for action.

You will have at least two years' experience working as a press officer in a similar role or a combination of working as a journalist and media relations officer.We are looking for candidates who are able to work beyond a media relations remit, who understand and can develop creative communications plans that use media coverage strategically as part of a wider plan to influence and bring about change. An interest in Ageing Better's agenda is essential, as is a keen interest in current affairs and public policy.
