Located in Sheffield we are currently working in conjunction with a highly regarded manufacturing firm who due to sustained growth are now looking to appoint a Section Lead.

The primary purpose of the Section Lead will be to drive continuous improvements, plan, coach, co-ordinate, and lead a team of production operators with diverse skill sets required to manufacture a range of bespoke and standard products.

Main responsibilities / duties of Section Lead:

• Effectively co-ordinate and plan materials, tasks and manning to maximise productivity and meet changing customer demands

•Motivate, lead, develop and challenge a flexible and competent team and ensure individuals reach the required competence levels to perform at a high standard

•Promote an environment of continuous improvement through application of regular continuous improvement projects including lean principles, VSM's, 5S and SMED within all activities

•Establish clear, tangible and challenging production targets, monitor performance and continuously improve

•Enforce all safe working procedures, practices, rules, regulations and instructions given

•Ensure work levels are performed to appropriate standards first time and QA procedures are adhered to

•Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, safety tours safety briefs and employee engagement meetings

•Communicate key business information, deliver tool box talks and facility improvement meetings

•Provide production support and advice to production engineers and be a key team member on projects such as establish new manufacturing cells and developing improvement techniques

•Competently set and operate a range of metal forming, pressing equipment and assembly tasks

To be considered for this position you will ideally have the following:

•Good mechanical awareness / engineering knowledge

•Experience of leading a team in a manufacturing environment

•Proven Leadership qualities with an ILM or similar Supervisory Certificate or proven experience to that level

•Experience of setting and working to targets, monitoring performance, giving feedback and dealing with issues in a timely manner

•Capable of building a motivated team

•Can demonstrate and has a proven track record of Lean Manufacturing Techniques / 5s and looks to improve everyday tasks

Below is a number of desirable skills / qualties, that woud assist with performing the role but are not required:

ILM Supervisory Certificate or similar

Diploma or equivalent/higher in a relevant manufacturing/engineering discipline

Certified to Six Sigma Greenbelt standard, equivalent or above.
