Working with the Head of Food Business China programme you will play a central role in further implementing and developing our influence on animal welfare in China as well as strengthening and enhancing our technical service offer.
China Research Manager Food Business Responsibilities:
The post holder will be accountable for the on-going technical credibility and development of Compassion's Awards programme and resources in China. This includes further development of the awards criteria, application and verification processes, and knowledge transfer to award winners, food companies, and wider stakeholder groups in China.
China Research Manager Food Business Requirements:
The right candidate will bring both scientific rigour and excellent practical knowledge of farm animal welfare in food production to the role, along with passion and belief in improving animal welfare in China. You will have a strong commercial awareness and develop a solid understanding of the Chinese food industry whilst maintaining a sympathetic understanding of the wider organisational aims. The role will require developing and delivering multiple workflows to deadline and within budget, and a strong problem solving 'can do' attitude.
This is a vital role within Compassion's China Programme, helping to ensure farm animal welfare is adopted within the sustainable supply chain and corporate policies of the world's leading food businesses as well as China's national companies. The role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact for farm animal welfare within a dynamic team and influential global organisation.
About Compassion in World Farming International:
Compassion in World Farming is the leading international farm animal welfare charity, campaigning to improve the lives of millions of farm animals through advocacy, lobbying for legislative change, and positive engagement with the global food industry. The Food Business programme is increasingly global in its remit - through the supply chains of our partners, and through the expansion of the programme into the US and China.
Location: Godalming, Surrey will require significant travel to China (with potentially additional travel to Asia Pacific).
Job type: Full Time, 2 years Fixed Term Contract; 37 hours per week
Salary: GBP33,000 to GBP38,000 (dependent on experience)
