Job description
The above full time post is available with immediate effect in the College of Life & Environmental Sciences.
About the role
We seek a highly-motivated Research Technician with proven experimental skills in molecular and cell biology to carry out laboratory work to support on-going projects in Professor Al Brown's team within the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology at the University of Exeter. Al Brown's team studies how pathogenic Candida species adapt to local niches within the host and how this contributes to disease establishment and progression. We combine genomics, proteomics, cytometry and live-cell imaging with fungal molecular and cell biology to dissect host-fungus interactions.
About you
The successful applicant will have experience of molecular, cellular and biochemical research on microbes, preferably fungal pathogens. As a senior technical staff position, the job also includes oversight of Al Brown's laboratory resources, including equipment and strain collections, as well as the supervision and training of junior staff/students. Good communication skills are essential as the post involves organising projects, discussing experiments with the team, liaising with technical experts and contributing to the highly collaborative ethos of the Mycology Group.
