RP10 - HGV 2 Fine Art Removal Technician
Location: Leyton / East London
Salary GBP13.80 p/h + O/T + Benefits
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a on behalf of one of our clients, a leading specialist in fine art shipping. The post holder will drive bespoke rigid vehicles for the collection and delivery of very high value items across the UK and Europe. The role will involve specialised handling, including packing and installation. The role enjoys considerable variety as every job is unique and will require dealing with some of the most famous and world renowned cultural institutions and VIP art collectors.
This role would suit ex-military personnel however, candidates from all backgrounds will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safe and secure transportation of cased art works in specialist vehicles as a member of a crew of two for each vehicle
- Pack and unpack works for transportation by road, air or sea. Intensive training will be given to build up specialist expertise.
- Under close supervision initially, install and de-install art works of an extremely diverse size, type and weight, ranging from large sculptures to small paintings. Training in specialist lifting and hanging equipment will be given.
- Ensure schedules are met and all corresponding documentation and administration is completed
- Clear and professional communication internally at all stages of the job.
- Liaise with clients on site and represent the company in a professional and respectful manner
- Follow all company policies including HR, Health and Safety, and technical best practice
- Work closely with other company technicians on site.
Skills & Qualifications
- Full driving licence. HGV2 is a requirement. A Class 1 licence would be advantageous.
- Complete respect and enthusiasm for the fragility, value, and importance of the works being handled
- Highly flexible individual - hours of work may vary according to business needs.
- Enjoys working in teams and able to work closely with other technicians for sustained periods whilst travelling company vehicles (Overnight accommodation will be either in company vehicle or locally booked hotel/B&B)
- An approachable communicator who is comfortable with dealing with all levels of the public
- Conscientious individual who is positive, motivated, vigilant and responsible.
- A checkable 5 year background and a clean criminal record is essential.
