Are you an experienced Trainer/Assessor interested in a flexible role that can be home or office based with UK site visits.

Do you have experience in competency management training within an Oil & Gas or Process Industry environment? We have an opportunity to join a multi-site bulk fuels business

Salary: GBP35,000 - GBP40,000 (depending on experience, skills and qualifications) + excellent benefits package.

The role is in support of the Competency Assurance Manager/HR Director to cover two main objectives - Firstly, to develop, implement and deliver learning, training, assessment and development activities and programmes to cover all roles within the organisation, with primary focus on all safety critical tasks/roles and Asset Technical posts operating within the COMAH regulated site to assure the competency of staff (including apprentices) and contractors is maintained. The second objective is to coordinate and manage the apprenticeship and graduate programmes within the organisation.

Ongoing implementation and expansion of the Competence Management System and any other HR related programmes.

  • You will develop and deliver training material, incorporating safety, health, environmental and process safety information wherever relevant. Evaluate the effectiveness of the training at the appropriate level.
  • Manage the Engineering and Process apprenticeship schemes including recruitment, education, site induction, overseeing mentoring programmes and skills development to provide potential skilled technicians and Operators.
  • Manage the Graduate Programme scheme including recruitment, education, site induction, overseeing mentoring programmes and skills development to provide potential Graduate Engineers.
  • Coach, develop and coordinate the Depot Assessors to ensure that they are assessing to the same standard at all times. This will include leading the audit process with regards to standardisation meetings and future CPD requirements.
  • Responsible to support with the collection and share training/competence performance indicators and work with local management to ensure regulatory, quality, and internal objectives are met around personnel competency and training.
  • Cover all activities associated with the apprenticeship/graduate and workforce development programmes, with support from the HR Team.
  • Support CMS implementation in areas/facilities not yet engaged with the program, or not meeting established goals.
  • Provide local training and support through active interactions with stakeholders before, during, and after CMS rollout.
  • Identify high level training and development opportunities for failed assessments. Work with stakeholders to attain expected competency standards.
  • Identify training gaps and recommend training solutions.
  • Collaborate with external partners and internal stakeholders to manage the development and implementation of training solutions.
  • Implement training and competence solutions, including the delivery of in-house training.
  • Measure and evaluate training and competence solutions to determine effectiveness and return on investment. Analyse Training Evaluation Feedback and take action where issues are identified.
  • Communicate progress monthly and quarterly and as needed with regards to apprenticeship recruitment and development.
  • Interact with HR and the Senior Leadership Team to support talent management strategies and career progression.
  • Engage with functional leaders (Operations, Asset Technical, Business Services, HSSEQ & HR) to align competency assurance with overall business goals.

Experience/Qualifications

  • A relevant degree level qualification in Training and Development or equivalent career experience in training competency management.
  • Working knowledge of Competency Assurance in relation to COMAH, preferably from within the oil and gas or process industry.
  • Experience of coordinating and managing apprenticeship and graduate programmes within an organisation.
  • You will be expected to have excellent knowledge of current learning and development processes, educational and accreditation structures.
