Mechanical Engineer - Permanent Vacancy - Well established Brighton based company - salary negotiable depending on experience.
To be part of a multi-disciplined team producing concept designs and detailed designs to internal and external customer requirements within defined schedule and cost parameters.
KEY ACCOUNTASBILITIES:
* Produce design schemes and proposals in response to specifications
* Produce detailed CAD (Solid Works) design layouts (model and draft) and manufacturing drawings as well as delegating work to others in the team.
* Develop fellow team members and process to improve department efficiency and accuracy.
* Calculate first order strength and performance of design solutions
* Select appropriate materials for a durable, minimum cost product
* Choose material forming solutions suitable for the duty and quantity of components to be made
* Check design drawings for completeness and accuracy
* Select and source proprietary parts/components that are fit for purpose
* Support project monthly estimating and manage own work to meet cost estimates and schedule e Support Investigations, solutions and write reports
* Follow procedures to meet the requirements of ISO-9001and AS9100
* Support internal, customer and supplier meetings
* Be prepared to assist with other engineering duties (e.g. testing, experimentation, modelling, CAD design etc) as work-load may demand from time to time
* Liaise with Production Engineering to ensure optimum choice of production methods and materials for economic manufacture
* Comply with Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and QA procedures
PERSON PROFILE
The candidate should be numerate, literate, hardworking, organised with a methodical approach to their work. They should be able to work on their own initiative or as part of a team.
EXPERIENCE / ACHIEVEMENTS
* 1-5 years Product design and 3D CAD (Solidworks)
* Experience across multiple sectors including aerospace.
* Liaison with Shop Floor / Manufacturing preferable but not essential e Mechanisms and pneumatics an advantage
* Full life cycle design
* Mechanical Detailing. (Some electrical knowledge an advantage)
* Desirable Electrical/Electronic knowledge
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
* Good understanding of; Geometric Tolerancing, Stack-Up Analysis, BS8888
* Proficient user of Solid Works
* Good understanding of DO practices, Drawing Issue and Change processes
* Familiar with the requirements and capabilities of POM and ERP systems.
* Perform work accurately and with minimal supervision
* Ability to resolve challenges quickly and ingeniously
* Design products with low costs from the outset
* Attention to detail essential with good keyboard skills.
* Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload appropriately.
* Methodical approach to their work.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS
BSc, MSc, MEng in Mechanical Engineering are a similar subject.
