The Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Buyer, for a well-established, growing construction company specialising in commercial and industrial design and build projects. Based in Oxford, the job will be on a full time, on a temporary basis with the potential of becoming permanent.

Key Duties:
We are seeking a driven buyer who is detail-orientated, the selected individual is to be responsible for purchasing quality products for our business. Key duties will include:

  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials required by the business.

  • Build relationships with existing suppliers/subcontractors and negotiate with them for the best terms and prices.

  • Develop new relationships expanding the current supply chain.

  • Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.

  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.

  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely deliveries to various sites.

  • Analyse and understand market trends and apply this knowledge to make buying decision.

  • Manage stock room, stock levels & report discrepancies to management.

  • Ability to travel to various sites across Oxfordshire

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous buyer experience (in construction field) - Preferred but not essential.

  • Previous experience/knowledge with construction materials.

  • Excellent computer and numerical skills - Previous experience with Microsoft Suite, Sage and Construct preferable.

  • Critical thinking & negotiating skills

  • Strong communication skills - Written & verbal.

  • Strong professional work ethic.

  • Good attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to work efficiently.

  • A full UK driving license - Preferable, but not essential.

What we offer

  • 28 days Holiday per annum.

  • Standard working hours - 37.5hrs per week, 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday

  • Paid overtime available

Experience:

  • Previous Buyer: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Sage and Construct: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Microsoft Suite: 1 year (Preferred)

Licence:

  • UK Driving License (Preferred)
