A charitable organisation that specialises in the assessment and rehabilitation of people with acquired brain injuries and complex needs such as cognitive, physical and/or emotional difficulties, including physical and verbal aggression, impaired social functioning and disinhibited behaviour is looking for a new Occupational Therapist to work in their team on a permanent basis in an interdisciplinary team providing occupational therapy input within the BIRT neurobehavioural model to service users with acquired brain injury and to liaise with internal and external professionals, family members and service users.

Responsibilities:

* To work as an independent clinical professional with well-developed knowledge and skills, problem solving, clinical reasoning and clinical expertise in specialist area.

* To provide a high quality Occupational Therapy service, managing and prioritizing a caseload of service users with highly complex mental health /physical needs and/or challenging behavior. This will be sensitive to individual needs within the resources available.

* To use evidence based/service user centred principles and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention in conjunction with other members of the clinical team

* To facilitate complex discharge packages of care and give specialist advice and information to other disciplines and agencies

* To contribute to the training and development of others when required.

* To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy Services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.

* To supervise other members of staff, e.g. Rehabilitation Support Workers, Programme Planner, Basic Grade Occupational Therapists.

* To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on placement.

* To assess for and monitor the provision of minor adaptations and equipment when appropriate.

* To be committed to continuous professional development.
