Energy Efficiency Advisor
* This is an exciting opportunity to join our forward-thinking organisation to deliver our current energy efficiency programmes to support disabled people and their families to achieve a better state of economic wellbeing.
* We are seeking an enthusiastic and results-driven candidate with a proven track record in providing information, advice and support to clients on fuel efficiency, income maximisation & general advice and guidance.
Key Tasks Energy Efficiency Advisor:
1. To provide high quality, impartial information and advice which complies with recognised standards, to meet the needs of disabled people, their families and carers who are at risk of or experiencing debt and fuel poverty issues.
2. To provide information and advice on such matters as energy efficiency and saving measures; grants and subsidiary programmes; income maximisation and benefit entitlements; and fuel efficiency.
3. To undertake casework support for those clients in crisis or with significant needs to assist in the reduction; cancellation and/or management of fuel debts.
4. To deliver workshops and training programmes to disabled people, their families and carers to improve their skills and confidence to better manage their finances and reduce the risk of them falling into debt and/or fuel poverty in the future.
5. To undertake outreach work at various community based locations to promote the service, provide locality-based support to clients and to maximise referrals.
6. To network and co-operate with other departments and partner organisations to promote the service, obtain referrals and gain access to additional services to meet client needs.
7. To actively participate in the marketing and publicity of DRC and the service through various mediums including on-line; social media; talks and presentations; community events, displays and exhibitions.
8. To collate client information and statistics and produce reports and returns by the set deadlines for the Service Manager, Chief Executive and funders.
9. To ensure client data is input into DRC's client management database and that accurate and reliable client records and files are maintained evidencing client activity, outcomes and impact.
10. To assist the Service Manager to monitor the effectiveness of the service through client feedback including BAME client take-up.
11. To build relationships with other agencies in order to increase local knowledge to support programme and service delivery.
12. To be aware of and comply with the DRC's policies and procedures including safeguarding; health and safety; information governance and data protection; and equal opportunities.
13. To ensure your own continuing professional development by attending local networks and groups, undergoing training, attending conferences and seminars and by any other appropriate means.
14. To work effectively as part of the team and be flexible and responsive to changing client needs and DRC requirements.
15. To undertake any other delegated duties as may be required from time to time, which are commensurate with the nature and grading of the post.
Energy Efficiency Advisor Person Specification
* Commitment to obtaining City and Guilds level 3 qualification or equivalent in energy efficiency during first 12 months of employment (Funded by DRC)
* Evidence of ability to provide accurate and up-to-date information on; energy efficiency; income maximisation, ECO schemes, energy tariffs, priority service register.
* Evidence of ability to interact with and to interview clients in line with required standards including disabled people
* Experience of empowering clients to make informed choices and decisions
* Experience of supporting clients with fuel poverty issues
* Evidence of ability to negotiate on behalf of clients
* Experience of working within the community
* Experience of networking and undertaking outreach work
* Experience of promoting services to external providers
* Knowledge of and ability to use generic computer packages
* Knowledge of and ability to use social media
* Understanding of disability issues
* Knowledge of statutory services
