Support Worker – Entry Level Opportunity
Supporting individuals in Edinburgh and West Lothian

Are you always the first to put the kettle on and lend an ear if a friend has a problem? Do you feel you’re at your best when helping others to reach a goal, whether that’s running some errands, learning new skills or getting out and meeting new people?

Have you ever thought about changing career paths and becoming a Support Worker?

If the above applies to you, we would love to hear from you!

Who we are

Primecare Health is an independent care provider that provides exceptional care-at-home services. We help people throughout Edinburgh and West Lothian to maintain their independence, live how they choose and continue to enjoy life within their own home and community.

We’re currently looking for a number of enthusiastic individuals to join us on a full or part time basis and undertake training to become Support Workers.

Why you should join our team

- Salary starting from £8.75 per hour (increasing once you’ve completed your training)
- Pension
- Full training, including a comprehensive four day induction and refresher training to maintain your knowledge
- Easily accessible offices which have a fridge of prosecco and beer to reward you for a job well done
- Free uniform
- Staff rota to maximise days off
- Refer a friend scheme
- Interest free loan for SVQ 2
- Interest free loan for bus pass
- Cycle scheme
- Overtime available
- 28 days’ holiday (for full time hours)

We live and work in the same communities as the people we support and have a personal vested interest in seeing our clients succeed. For us, care is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to make a difference to someone’s life every day.

What’s more, a career with Primecare Health offers great progression prospects. Many of our Managers started in entry level roles and have worked their way up through the business, so the sky’s the limit for those with ambition.

How you’ll make a difference

As a Support Worker, you will provide an excellent care service to an individual in the Edinburgh and West Lothian area.

When you start your role, you will undertake exceptional training, which will include shadowing an experienced member of the team, giving you the tools you need to succeed in your role.

You will support one individual, rather than a group, so you will have the chance to build a strong relationship with them and witness each one of their achievements first-hand.

No two days will be the same. Your duties will include helping the client with medication, providing personal care, helping out with the shopping and supporting them to get out and about in the community.

What you’ll need

While no previous care experience is required, to join us as a Support Worker, you’ll need:

- Great people skills
- A positive attitude and the desire to learn
- An empathetic approach

While not essential, a driving licence would be beneficial to your application.

Other organisations may call this role Trainee Care Worker, Trainee Support Worker, Junior Care Assistant, Care Assistant, Trainee Personal Care Assistant, Trainee Home Care Assistant, or Junior Support Worker.

This is a permanent role, with various hours available. We can offer hours around your schedule, as long as you are able to work at least one weekend day. Shifts can be up to 12 hours per day (these can be split shifts) on a 4 on, 4 off basis.

Webrecruit and Primecare Health are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
