Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Street Trading & Scrap Metal Licensing and Enforcement Officer on a 2 months contract with a possibility of an extension.

Purpose of the role -

To manage, regulate and enforce street trading legislation.
Ensuring the provision of an effective customer focused licensing, education and enforcement presence that delivers based on service prioritises.
Ability to engage with Councillors, community groups, residents, businesses and visitors to aid their knowledge of the service and its methods of meeting its prioritises, ensuring the integration of street trading with the surrounding retail business environment and residents.
To devise and deliver programmes and projects to aid in the pursuit of service priorities, namely (but not limited to) street trading licensing, revenue collection and licensee compliance.
To regulate street trading activities to legislative and other requirements

Ability to communicate effectively with all customers , ensuring needs are met.

Ability to deal with, often complex and major, telephone, personal and written enquiries/complaints.
Ability to implement management instruction
Working With Legislation, Policy & Procedures
Ability to complete log entries and prepare reports / statements concerning non-routine technical and operational matters using a variety of methods.
Ability to complete written logs and statements to a high standard: especially when they maybe of a sensitive nature or required as evidence
Ability to deal with conflict across a range of issues and able to support others to identify solutions to problems. Ability to present complex, sensitive or contentious information to a range of audiences.
Ability to make decisions within delegated responsibility and to recognise when something requires higher level authorisation
