Tissue Culture Laboratory Assistant
Applications are invited for the post of Laboratory Assistant in NIAB’s crop transformation team, based in Cambridge.
NIAB is an independent plant science research organisation with focus on the development and characterisation of new varieties of crops. This post provides support for activities in the tissue culture laboratories, growth rooms and glasshouse. The main functions of the role are to provide support to the tissue culture team. This will involve assistance in media and glassware preparation, autoclaving and some routine tissue culture. Some plant care and seed harvesting/processing activities will also be undertaken.
A conscientious, hardworking individual with a good standard of education is required. Experience of media preparation, plant tissue culture and class 1 containment laboratories is desirable although full training will be given. Candidates should also have good organisation and communication skills with an eye for detail.
Starting salary will be in the range of £19,626 to £25,896 per annum, dependent on skills, experience and qualifications.
