As the Complex Litigation Solicitor you will be responsible for minimising risk and protecting the firm and clients' reputation when engaging in legal strategies. This is achieved through leadership and engagement of the team through effective management of team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Pro-actively manage the department to ensure the effective management of complex cases in order to resolve disputes, mitigate costs and protect the reputation of the firm and its clients.
Supervise the paralegals in the drafting of legal documents, agreements, correspondence and the conduct of litigation generally.
Assist and supervise the team as to the appropriateness of case evidence, commercial and legal decisions about case strategy and options for settlement.
Reduce the number of complaints received by Lowell Solicitors by effectively increasing the number of complaints which are resolved upon the first referral.
Through reporting, highlight specific issues and trends and provide recommendations to the business to deliver improvements to its processes and its efficiency of the litigation program.
Support the Training and Quality department where necessary, providing input into training content and maintenance, call/written assessment and calibration, aiding in ongoing training and feedback.
Assist the Legal Support Assistant in the development of statistical analysis and creating performance data for incentives, departmental scheduling and rotas. To coordinate with other departmental managers to drive and maintain standards.
Conduct regular internal audits to ensure that all internal and external deadlines are managed and achieved, including court hearings and filing dates and also that case files are fully maintained and up to date.
Lead, develop and motivate the team.
Be responsible for driving the performance of the team ensuring that all metrics, including customer metrics are met and delivered within accordance with SRA requirements.
Ensure that absence and general conduct, i.e. punctuality and policy adherence are managed in line with company policy.
Conduct 121s, in line with company stated timeframes, documents support and guidance and actively encourages team member's personal development.
Carry out regular performance reviews with team members against team KPIs and to provide support and coaching where required.
Identify and implement efficiencies in the systems to provide evident and measurable results.
To be responsible for capacity planning for the team ensuring that service levels are being met.Conduct Risk:

Ensure all staff members are fully briefed on SRA, TCF, Conduct Risk and FAIR.
Ensure each member of staff has a performance objective in relation to their responsibilities under TCF/FAIR.
Regularly communicates with team members; the Customer and customer outcomes are on the agenda in team meetings and one-to-ones.
Ensure that all members of staff have the necessary skills and competence to comply with SRA and FCA Regulations.
Actively contribute to our culture of 'doing the right thing'.
Remain compliant with SRA, FCA regulations and industry best practice.
Demonstrate that the customer is at the heart of the business through their behaviours and mind-setRequirements

Qualified as a Solicitor is essential.
Experience of conducting litigation in a bulk environment
Experience of working in the financial services sector.
Proven experience of delivering a positive customer service.
.A good understanding of SRA code of conduct and FCA rules.
Fully up-to-date with prevailing regulatory requirements and industry best practice.Skills

Sound technical knowledge of legal issues around consumer credit and collections.
Excellent commercial understanding and decision-making ability.
Ability to identify and achieve creative solutions to problems and disputes.
Ability to prioritise tasks quickly and efficiently.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - ability to work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
Proven ability to work on own initiative without supervision.
High personal and work standards - thoroughness and close attention to detail.
Intermediate level of computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
