My client is a well-known Hydraulic manufacturer with an annual turnover of 1bn, manufacturing and supplying into multiple industries

We are looking for a well experienced design & development engineer who will be responsible for the design of hydraulic systems.

Job responsibilities:

* Design hydraulic components, systems and sub-systems to customer or internal specifications utilising the product range.

* Modify and develop existing products and system designs to improve performance and reduce cost etc.

* Liaise with sales personnel and occasionally visit customers to discuss project requirements either prior, during or with samples/prototypes, as required.

* Design and detail components using a Solidworks 3D CAD system.

* Create parts, bills of materials and change notes using SAP.

* Acquire quotations from selected vendors and liaise with buyer and vendor as necessary to achieve required quality, delivery and price.

* Supervise assembly and test of components and systems ensuring that internal and customer requirements are satisfied - including delivery time.

* Write technical reports to document testing or performance characteristics.

* Maintain detailed project files containing all relevant information regarding the work undertaken, e.g. calculations, drawings, costing information, communications etc.

* Management may, from time to time, require you to carry out tasks in addition to your normal duties, provided these tasks are both reasonable and within your capabilities.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Engineering principles.
• 2 years Drawing/design office experience.
• Proficient using AutoCAD 2D CAD system
• Experience in design of hydraulic components (in particular, HPU's, Hydraulic Manifold assemblies & also piped systems of welded, flanged
• Experience in creating Bills of Materials, engineering change notes etc
• Ability to write technical reports documenting performance characteristics & user manuals
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplined team
• Knowledge of SAP
• Machine design experience.
