Family Support Worker

Hours: 17 hours per week and Term Time only

Required as soon as possible

Salary: Grade 3 point 5 to 6 £18,795 - £19,171 pro rata

Based at Impington Village College but working across the cluster primaries as well, the Family Support Worker will provide an intensive support service to pupils and/or their parents, identified by the schools as ‘vulnerable’ or ‘in need.’ The post holder will provide a link between home and school to help resolve difficulties at an early stage. 

We are looking for a candidate who can:

  • build positive partnerships between school/s and parents in order to improve attendance and behaviour and support children's development and learning
  • identify and tackle difficulties at an early stage and link families to more specialised help and support when necessary
  • organise, plan and run groups as deemed necessary to support families and achieve the objectives of the project, such as parenting, self-esteem and coffee mornings

The successful candidate must have NVQ3 or equivalent in a field relating to working with children and/or young people, together with excellent communication skills and the commitment to build good working relationships with children/parents/educational establishments/outside agencies etc.  A good understanding of child protection procedures is essential.
