Business activity

The principle activities are aircraft propeller maintenance coupled with diverse reconstruction projects involving component manufacture and work with wood composite propeller blades.

The company’s products are propellers utilised on sport and recreational aircraft, former military aircraft including the iconic Spitfire and other specialist applications, such as hovercraft and wind tunnels.

Duties & responsibilities

You should be capable of producing consistent high-quality engineering work of a varied nature involving aircraft engineering some component refinishing and involvement with specialist sub-contractors.

The workshop activities of this role also involve computer literacy, quality assurance and awareness of human factors. 

You should be able to meet deadlines and be efficient within your role following full training which will be provided.

Job requirements

Previous experience in aviation would be advantageous, but is not essential, and the ideal candidate is an experienced mechanical engineer, or automotive mechanic, with a keen interest in aircraft, or automobiles.

The company has a knowledgeable and dedicated staff and is looking to recruit someone that enjoys working in a small team yet also work on one’s own initiative.

Good physical health and eye sight is preferable as the role involves a lot careful precision. 

A driving license will be required in order to attend occasional meetings and other tasks. There is occasional international travel with another engineer to support overseas customers.

Preferably you would live with a commutable distance of Skycraft which is located in a South Cambridgeshire Village.
