Offering a salary of GBP30K

PURPOSE OF JOB:

Responsible for making sure that buildings and their services meet the needs of the School, its staff, and clients. The role is accountable for Facilities Management and Administration, Security, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Grounds, Buildings and Utilities to ensure the School environment is in a suitable condition to work and meets Health and Safety Standards and the legal requirements. The Facilities Manager needs to have the ability to manage a varied and complex workload and also have technical knowledge of building services. Problem-solving is an essential skill.

DUTIES:

1. MANAGEMENT and ADMINISTRATION

Be responsible, on an annual basis, for planning and managing a maintenance schedule in consultation with the Bursar.

Working alongside the Bursar, to prepare works specifications, tender documentation, and bids for funding, as required to support project works.

Maintain records of utilities, meter readings, health and all other scheduled maintenance checks.

Liaise with contractors and other professionals as directed by the Bursar.

Administer the Maintenance ticket system and allocate jobs accordingly.

1. SECURITY

In partnership with the Security Guards, maintain the security of the School.

Manage the duty rota of the Security Guards.

1. MAINTENANCE

Oversee the maintenance of the School site.

Ensure maintenance, repairs, and inspections of equipment are conducted in accordance with School Health and Safety Regulations.

Ensure that the premises are adequately heated and lit, appropriate to conditions.

Ensure the most efficient operation and use of the lighting and heating of the premises including maintenance and operation of the plant.

Ensure the quality and temperature of the Swimming Pool water by regular backwashing, filtering and chemical balances.

Undertake duties covering maintenance items and emergency repairs as agreed with the Bursar.

Contacting and engaging contractors.

Ensure all contractors have the necessary certification and documentation as required by the HSE and School policy.

Ensure all regular contractors have suitable DBS clearance.

1. HOUSEKEEPING

To monitor the standard of cleaning and hygiene.

To oversee termly deep cleaning.

To oversee the standard of cleaning throughout the buildings.

To ensure that all cleaning materials and paper supplies are ordered are always available.

Ensure the washing of all cleaning buckets, dustpans and brushes each week. Also disinfect cloths and mops etc. and replace them when necessary.

To ensure prevention/removal of vermin in consultation with external agencies if appropriate.

To ensure safe high level cleaning including light fittings, shades, etc. using appropriate access equipment.

1. GROUNDS

To ensure the School grounds are maintained to a high standard.

To ensure the School sports pitches are prepared for fixtures and training.

To ensure flower beds and pathways are cleared of weeds.

To ensure trees and hedges are trimmed or removed as necessary.

To ensure that communal areas, paths and driveways are in a satisfactory condition, clear any snow and large puddles. Use salt on pathways when needed.

1. BUILDINGS and UTILITIES

Complete regular visual checks of the interior and exterior of buildings.

Test the functionality of services supplied to the buildings.

1. HEALTH & SAFETY/FIRE SAFETY

To carry out regular Health & Safety and Fire Safety checks.

Ensure that all work carried out by support staff is done with due regard to the Health and Safety Policies and Regulations.

Carry out regular Emergency Evacuation Practices and keep appropriate records.

Carry out accident investigation and emergency action and liaise with the appropriate staff to deal with emergency situations in accordance with the School Health and Safety Policy.

Ensure that dangerous substances and equipment are used and stored safely, in accordance with COSHH regulations

Organising removal of rubbish from the site as and when necessary.

Ensure appropriate checks are carried out and recorded.

Ensure that all escape routes and potentially hazardous areas are kept free from obstruction.

Ensure that all fire-fighting equipment is located, tested and results recorded, as regulations require.

Ensure that inflammable materials for use around the site are safely stored and advice is given on the storage of combustible materials.
