Job Purpose

* To lead a small technical team and in-house trade operatives to ensure empty and occupied homes are repaired quickly to our re-let standard

* To lead on repairs and safety checks for mutual exchanges or empty homes following a major incident

* Ensure that all statutory safety checks are carried out and validated prior to any mutual exchange or re-let to start a new tenancy

* To lead and motivate our in-house trade workforce to ensure that repairs are carried in accordance with quality and safety standards

* To lead on the contract administration of external contractors to ensure that contracts are undertaken in accordance with Council policy and procedures

* To ensure that all building work is carried out in accordance with the latest health and safety and Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations

* To ensure that expenditure is managed within the available budget

* To ensure that stock records are captured and records are updated to assist with business planning

* To lead on setting service standards to ensure that these are efficient, continually improving and responsive to stakeholders changing needs

Knowledge and Experience

* Experience of managing technical staff and delivery of capital and revenue programmes of work to commercial buildings

* Detailed knowledge of different forms of contract and procurement of revenue and capital works

* Detailed knowledge of tendering procedures, mobilisation of contractors and contract administration

* Detailed knowledge of construction health and safety, and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations

* Detailed knowledge of planning and building regulation legislation

* Knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice in relation to commercial buildings

* A proven commitment to partnership working and stakeholder involvement to improve services

* Ability to make site visits
