Hours: 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only (39 weeks)
Holidays:  School holidays (we follow Stockport LEA holidays)

Role Summary

Here at Seashell Trust we provide care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment and communication disorders and autism.

We are recruiting a Catering Assistant to support our Catering Manager as part of our catering team to provide a service of a high standard that meets the needs of the Trust and on site residents in our school and college kitchens.  So if you are looking for a rewarding kitchen/canteen based role, then we would love to hear from you!

• Support the Catering Manager in some of the daily food preparation for lunchtimes at our SEN School and College
• Ensure work schedules and records are signed off as work is completed
• Disposing of general and hazardous waste in the appropriate manner in line with waste disposal protocols
• Provide a customer focussed service to students and Trust staff, serving food ensuring you allow students to make independent choices and that we prepare food choices according to students’ needs
• Detail regular stock checks to ensure required supply of food and materials
• Ensure daily cleaning tasks are carried out in the kitchen and dining areas on a daily basis
• Support the Catering Manager and other kitchen staff in any deep clean schedules
• This is an active role and will require substantial activity around the site that includes walking, standing, lifting, bending, loading and operating kitchen equipment

Hours

• Monday to Thursday 10.30am – 1.45pm
• Friday 10.45am – 1.45pm
• 16 hours per week

Requirements

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy essential
• Previous experience working in a kitchen / catering environment
• Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate preferred, or commitment to achieve this
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
