Joe Davies are award winning importers and distributors of giftware to the independent retailer. The company is a well established family business, based in South Manchester and they have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Graphic Designer to join their busy marketing department.

The Role - Graphic Designer

The role will involve developing concepts, graphics and layouts for adverts, brochures, packaging, company literature, social media and website assets. Managing all projects from initial brief through to design, print and production.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be highly motivated and creative
  • Be professional in manner and appearance
  • Have at least 1-2 years professional working experience in graphic design
  • Have an up to date portfolio of work
  • Be able to multi task and work well under pressure
  • Have a flexible and helpful attitude and the ability to fit in and work well with others
  • Have great communication skills

Key skills required

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in graphic design is an advantage
  • Excellent IT skills - a good knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is essential
  • Strong organisational skills including record keeping and file management
  • Passionate about accuracy and attention to detail
  • Creative copywriting skills
  • Excellent understanding of the balance of typography, imagery, design elements and layouts
  • An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment
  • Professional approach to time, costs and deadlines
  • The ability to liaise with external printers and publishing companies on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality
  • Sound knowledge of social media and digital communication
  • Understanding of colour management when producing printed artwork
