Trafford Housing Trust (THT) is an independent housing company providing more than 9,000 quality affordable homes within the Trafford area of Manchester and across the North West.  As a social enterprise, we are a ‘profit-for-purpose’ organisation, striving for a society transformed, free from poverty, inequality and injustice.

In April 2019 we announced that we will be joining the L&Q Group within the coming months, in an exciting deal that will see us build 20,000 new homes across the NW. This represents ambitious growth and a huge vote of confidence in THT’s team and track record.

We have a vacancy for a Multi-Skilled Joiner in our Responsive Repairs team. The successful candidate must be confident in all aspects or property maintenance. Your primary trade will be a Joiner, with secondary skills in plumbing, tiling, plastering and decorating. You will be required to carry out a varied workload and you must be able to work on your own initiative as the role will primarily involve lone working. The position will also require you to be available to cover the “On Call Emergency Service.”  This is on a rota basis (Additional Payments for on call £550 per week).

The role will include the following types of work: -

  • All other aspects of Joinery, including refitting full kitchens, renewal doors, upvc windows, facia and gutter repairs, patch plastering up to one m2, and floor tiling etc..
  • Basic plumbing, ie refitting of sink tops, replacement of taps and repairing leaks

A recognised formal apprenticeship and NVQ Level 2 (as a minimum requirement) or equivalent qualification is required in Joinery.  We are looking for individuals with demonstrable experience within a similar role, any experience within a housing company would be beneficial but is not essential. This is a customer facing role and previous experience of working with the public is essential. You will have a full clean driving license and experience working at heights would be an advantage. You will also be flexible to work between the hours of 8am and 8pm.

The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and be capable of working with minimum supervision.
