My client is a privately-owned recruitment business, based near Piccadilly, London and currently employing around sixty people with a very strong reputation in its areas of specialisation. For 25 years they have focused on accountancy & finance, private equity, debt and structured finance, corporate strategy and mergers and acquisitions. They have assisted innumerable clients in securing the very best talent available and they have played a key part in the advancement of thousands of careers.
They are a trusted recruitment partner to a wide variety of companies, banks and funds. Their clients vary greatly in size, from small, high growth businesses, to major multinational companies. Their candidates reflect their client base, with profiles that display education, training and practical experience from the very best academic, professional and commercial environments.
There are five consulting teams organised by discipline:
* Accountancy, Finance & Corporate Development - Commerce & Industry
* Accountancy & Finance - Banking & Private Equity
* Accountancy & Finance - Temporary, Contract & Interim
* Private Equity
* Banking, Debt Finance & Structured Finance, Corporate Finance and M&A
They are currently looking for graduate entrants for a number of these teams and are particularly interested in a French speaker as well as English speaking graduates. Each graduate will join a particular team as a Researcher and embark on an 18-month training scheme, at the end of which, we expect each Researcher to be ready for the transition to Consultant.
The Researcher's role can be broken down into two parts:
- ongoing, systematic research of candidate groups (e.g. investment bankers, accountants, strategy consultants), followed by individual approaches to potential candidates and then participating in the interview, when that candidate meets one of the Consultants; and
- assisting with specific assignments, by building a 'map' of potential candidates to approach. Some of these may already be known, whilst others may be completely fresh ideas. Thereafter, playing a part in each step of the process, from meeting the client to understand the brief, participating in the candidate interviews, the short-list presentation process and finally, the successful conclusion of the search when one candidate is offered the role and accepts the position.
During the 18 months, Researchers learn all about the candidate groups, client firms and the processes that we undertake to fill each role.
