Operations Manager

My client are one of the UK's largest soft fruit growers and suppliers working with manufacturers, retail and catering businesses. Due to continued growth they are looking for an Operations Manager to join their team to manage the International Farm Camp

Job Summary/ Purpose

To Manage all aspects of the IFC as an independent business unit working alongside the company you will be accountable for the day to day operation of the IFC together with monitoring its financial performance, controlling costs, identifying opportunities and implementing improvements accordingly. You will also ensure it is fully compliant with all legal requirements.

You will lead and inspire the team, supporting them with their development, facilitating their success and encouraging them to reach their full potential.

To promote the IFC and the company locally in appropriate activities to position the IFC as the place to work and stay and as an employer of choice

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy:

Develop and implement a cohesive strategy for the IFC and continually review and develop this strategy to adjust to both internal and external changes and demands.

Develop, review and deliver positive KPI results in the areas of People, Health and Safety, Cost and Service that contribute to the overall operations strategy.

Developing innovative marketing strategies to support and promote the identity of the IFC Brand.

Team Leadership and Management:

Develop the IFC team to support and deliver the IFC strategy, working with them to build confidence in delivering a consistent and high-quality resident experience, whilst maintaining standards of behaviours and performance management across a 24/7 service delivery.

Develop and actively promote a positive health and safety culture where all participants contribute to its success.

Align and lead the IFC team to ensure they are engaged, high performing and deliver excellent KPI results. Coach them to identify and provide effective solutions to address red KPIs.

Encourage an environment of support and challenge amongst the team and a sense of pride and passion.

Manage ongoing performance and succession of direct reports and build the team through skills assessment, training, coaching, feedback and support.

Continuous Improvement:

Through exploring competitor activity, analysis of data and financial measures, identify opportunities and new initiatives to further develop the IFC offering in terms of standards of service and the IFC amenities, looking to take advantage of labour market trends and market opportunities.

Compliance:

Ensure, through liaison with site HR and payroll, that all IFC workers are paid accurately and on time.

Through liaison with site HR, support the knowledge and experience of workers in understanding UK tax, NI and other benefits such as employer pensions.

Ensure the delivery of high quality and timely site induction, delivering essential skills and mandatory health and safety to enable workers to transition easily into their new job roles.

Capability to deliver resources when required:

Work to identify an effective supply chain of resources which is both agile and responsive to meet the challenges of both pre- and post-Brexit uncertainty.

Work to fully understand the attraction processes which make the company an employer of choice for both local and migrant labour, differentiated from others in the same field.

Liaise and meet with key outwork customers to negotiate and establish prices whilst building and maintaining relationships

Streamline and optimise recruitment processes for both UK and overseas applicants, being proactive and responsive to demand from both the company and third-party users of our outwork service.

Employee Engagement:

Optimise arrival and on-site experiences through listening to our resident population.

Work to give residents a meaningful voice to develop a culture of shared involvement and ownership of issues and solutions.

Work closely with the HR team to ensure employee engagement is delivered consistently both within business units and the camp to develop and maintain an engagement culture in all our operations.

Performance Management:

In liaison with end users, be those employed directly or outsourced labour users, to ensure a high performing workforce.

Work closely with the HR team to ensure seamless processes and standards.

Budgets and Capital Projects:

Responsible of all revenue streams within the IFC function including on site spend and all overheads

Managing agreed budgets of controllable expenses and wage costs, alongside determining and implementing strategies to increase year on year sales and to achieve agreed gross profit margins throughout all units.

Understand and develop the requirements for capital funding to meet the need for future camp developments of the quality, quantity and variety of accommodation options, recommending and advising on options to see a return on investment through a well-researched, evaluated and marketed range of price points for accommodation and services to enhance resident choice.

Ensure asset replacement is monitored and budgets are well controlled, seeking cost effective and optimum replacement strategies are in place.

The role will be working mainly Mon-Fri, 8.30 - 5.00 but flexibility will be needed
