Purchasing Controller leading packaging manufacturer

My client, a leading specialist packaging manufacturer is recruiting, due to business growth, for a purchasing controller. The role is a key role in supporting the procurement of materials and services within an interesting organisation.

The primary role of the Purchasing Controller is to assist the Purchasing Manager with all aspects and activities taking place within a busy Purchasing department. A particularly varied and busy role, you will be responsible for processing supplier orders, monitoring and reporting on purchasing activities and ensuring suppliers meet agreed deadlines.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Stock control and analysis - maintain and monitor
  • All raw material ordering as per MRP system
  • Managing all raw material schedules and call offs to fulfill production plan requirements
  • Maintaining the database with accurate information
  • Highlight weaknesses and challenge current processes
  • Managing stakeholder queries
  • Supplier buying and negotiating
  • Placing purchase orders
  • Expediting orders
  • Identify and source new suppliers and vendors for consumables
  • Support the vendor and supplier selection process
  • Monitor supplier and vendor compliance with contractual agreements for consumables
  • Manage invoice queries following up with suppliers to allow timely process of payment
  • Updating and publishing customer pipeline agreements and communicating to Sales team
  • Monitoring unallocated and slow moving raw material over dual sites and utilising as required
  • Internet research in relation to best sources of supply
  • Answering incoming department communications written and verbal in a timely manner
  • Written and verbal reporting
  • Keeping records and contract files in regular order for ongoing reference
  • Work closely with internal departments
  • General office administration and other tasks in order to fully support the Purchasing Manager
