This is an exciting opportunity based in Feltham to work with Border Force where you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver core operational learning to our frontline staff across the UK. You will help in ensuring our Border Force Officers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out their duties to protect the UK Border, therefore helping the Home Office to deliver its mission of keeping our citizens safe and our country secure.
The primary purpose of the role is to deliver operational learning to Border Force Officers equipping them with both the theoretical knowledge, and practical skills required to work in a law enforcement environment. You will deliver courses using a range of methodologies to new recruits, established staff and contingency personnel of all grades, and includes both civil and criminal law, along with Immigration and Customs regulations, procedures and policies.
The Operational Trainer will have the following skills and experience
Learning and Development experience as a trained trainer of adult learning programmes in education: vocational course delivery for example. This can include experience in law enforcement (Policing), large operational Civil Service Departments or private sector companies that require high levels of operational knowledge such as production or engineering, as your current or most recent role.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills: demonstrating strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively with delegates and build relationships.
Have excellent communication skills, coupled with a personal and professional demeanour that generates trust and confidence.
Strong organisational skills with ability to work as part of a team.
The ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing priorities.
Experience of working in a 24/7 law enforcement environment, a recognised qualification in L&D or a membership of a learning and development organisation, eg CIPD is desirable.
