Our client in Ashton-Under-Lyne Greater Manchester, is a diverse and vibrant further education college that offers a wide range of course including A level and advanced level vocational study programmes, Apprenticeships and adult courses up to degree Level. They require a skilled and motivated individual to be part of the Learning Support Team. You will ensure that their deaf/hearing impaired students receive high quality communication support. You will provide British Sign Language, note taking, lip speaking and adaptation of materials enabling learners to access the curriculum and reach their full potential. You will work alongside classroom teachers to ensure that individual learner needs are met and contribute to raising awareness and understanding of the needs of deaf/hearing impaired learners in the wider college community.
The successful candidate will have a proven record in providing communication support to young people and a sound knowledge of the challenges facing deaf/hearing impaired learners. You will be qualified to Level 3 or above in British Sign Language and be able to demonstrate your understanding of the deaf community. You will have a sound understanding of the range of issues facing young people and how these impact upon their aspirations and ability to make informed career choices.
21 hours per week, fixed Term up until June 2020, Term-Time Only (38 weeks per year)
