Falmouth Harbour Commissioners manages a Trust Port with statutory responsibility for navigation and conservancy of approximately 16 square miles of harbour area.  We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated deckhand to join Falmouth Pilot Services.

The main duties of the role are acting as a crew member on the pilot boat and assisting with the safe embarkation, carriage and disembarkation of pilots.  In addition the post holder will be required to undertake boat maintenance activities and tasks related to the administration and recording of pilotage.

The successful candidate is required to have a qualification to operate marine craft to at least RYA power boat level 2 and will be able to provide evidence of at least 2 years relevant experience in the marine industry.

Applicants should have a minimum of 4 GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent

Information technology skills are essential; experience in data entry would be advantageous.

This post requires shift working to provide a pilot boat service on a 24 hour basis throughout the year.

Applicants should be medically fit and will be required to pass a relevant medical.
