I am currently working with one of South Yorkshire's most established and prestigious Law firms who are recommended in the Legal (Apply online only) for its work in the areas of family, personal injury and medical negligence.

I am currently working with my client recruiting for a fee-earning paralegal to work within the Probate arm of their Private Client department.

The successful candidate will be assisting Probate Fee Earners with their caseloads whilst also building up their own case load of Probate work.

This is an ideal position for someone was has some background knowledge of Wills and Probate and wishes to embark on a career in this area of law and to continue to build on the experience and knowledge they have already gained.

The main responsibilities of this role will include:

Providing senior members of the department with support and assistance as necessary, assisting fee earner(s) to process legal work - attending client meetings, completing file notes, file opening, initial client compliance checks, preparation of client care letters and general administration, assisting with accounting to clients and matter closure and reporting
Conducting matters on behalf of clients as directed by the nominated supervisor
Undertake aspects of fee-earning work subject to supervision
Dealing with new client enquiries by taking initial details and booking appointments. This will involve meeting clients face to face or over the telephone
Updating clients and co-ordinate senior fee earners diary
Maintain good professional working relationships with external institutions, organisations and professionals
Maintain good client communication and relationships
Adhere to agreed practice procedures and quality standards
Ensure the confidentiality and security of all firm and client information
Maintain high standards in processing of client work, both in respect of professional standards and client care
Financials
To achieve and seek to exceed the chargeable time recording targets set by the department
To invoice and recover the maximum fees possible and achieve any targets set
To monitor WIP levels, invoice or write off as necessary, and arrange file closures in a timely fashion as directed by the nominated supervisor
Achieve targets or deadlines as specified in the business plan or as set by the managing partner or nominated supervisorBusiness Development

To seek to maximise internal and external referrals and instructions
To work with the Head of Department, Marketing Manager and colleagues to develop the department and to generate new ideas of businessGeneralist

Deliver a first class (internal and external) client service
Attend and represent the department at meetings, as required
Undertake any other appropriate duties as may be required
Co-operate with and take part in the Firm's performance management scheme
Demonstrate support for the Firm's Vision, Values and Goals
Ensure compliance with the Firm's Lexcel and accreditation and regulatory policies
