Our client based within the Higher Education sector currently require a full time catering assistant for up to 3 months.

This role will be based in Glasgow city centre and attracts a pay rate of GBP9.26 per hour. Hours of work will be 35 Hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.45am - 4.45pm

The successful candidate will assist the Senior Catering Assistant in the provision of a quality support service for staff, students and visitors within all kitchens, bakeries, restaurants, linen and ancillary areas. You will maintain a high standard of cleanliness within all areas relevant to the department.

To apply for this position you must have an elementary food hygiene certificate. You will have good interpersonal skills, the ability to work well as part of a team. Also, you will be expected to comply with all health and safety legislation and maintain hygiene levels in the work place. Experience of manual handling is also essential.

MAIN DUTIES

Cleaning and maintaining practical areas to a safe hygienic standard within all areas relevant to the department.

Ensuring practical areas (including kitchens, bakeries, restaurants, bar, linen room, lecture theatre and ancillary areas (demonstration areas) are prepared for classes and other activities as required.

Collecting, checking, delivering and returning food stores, prepared food and specialist equipment and completion of the relevant documentation (as required).

Food storage, labeling and temperature monitoring, in accordance with food safe systems of work.

Assisting in stock recording and stock control procedures and completion of all relevant documentation.

Providing assistance in all designated areas, such as the setting out of furniture and equipment for related displays within the school, as required.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

To assist the Senior Catering Supervisor and Assistant Catering Supervisors in the provision of a quality support service for the college staff, students and visitors.

Food storage and temperature monitoring.

Reporting of faults and maintenance requirements to the supervisor or member of lecturing staff within the section.
