A day in the life of a Tenancy Sustainment Manager at Trafford Housing Trust is never quite the same as the day before, but it’s very likely to involve making important decisions that affect customers lives.  They are decisions that involve a very diverse customer demographic, who may need intensive support to remain in their home or may need a bit of extra help or advice. There is also the tricky balancing act between achieving efficiencies and operating surplus and the need to invest in maintaining high quality, accessible and effective services. While always having an eye on regulation and legislation, particularly at a time where it’s more important than ever that customers feel safe in their homes.

It takes a very inspirational leader to meet the constantly changing demands of this role.  Perhaps you flourish on wrestling with problems where one size never fits all and you enjoy working in an environment were relationships built on respect are an imperative.  Maybe you have a real desire to make life easier for customers or enable them to thrive in their tenancy who are increasingly diverse, with a wide range of needs and preferences.  Sometimes these people are the most vulnerable in our society.  You may care passionately about working with others to create communities that are better, stronger, safer and are ultimately are a great place to live.

So, what does this job involve?

With significant experience within a Tenancy Sustainment environment and proven experience of leading and managing high performing and successful teams, you will lead the operational delivery and development of an innovative Tenancy Sustainment Service.  The team plays an integral role in supporting the increasing variety and diversity of people we house to thrive in their tenancy.

You will be integral to the development of systems, operational practices and plans which encourage colleagues to put customers first and enable people to live in neighbourhoods that are clean, safe and secure.

You must have the ability to build relationships that are based on mutual respect, with the successful person being the main point of contact for involved customers, local councillors and key stakeholders.  In addition, strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to develop early intervention and preventative tenancy sustainment interventions will be crucial.

Through keeping abreast of changing Government initiatives in relation to tenancy sustainment and vulnerable people and by taking responsibility for the non-standard tenancy portfolio, you will lead the Trust’s development of a high-quality Tenancy Sustainability Offer including a specific offer for customers living in our high-rise apartments.
