We are on a mission to be the partner of choice for developing people and their communities. Reed in Partnership is a public service provider specialising in skills training for the long-term unemployed, increasing employment opportunities by working with employers and providing youth services.

What the job is about:

The main purpose of a Youth Engagement Specialist is to publicize the National Citizenship Programme to young people, parents and teachers. The Programme is a 4 week course where 16-17 year olds can explore their talents, meet other like-minded students and take part in projects that will build life-long skills.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Identifying and engaging with key contacts in schools and colleges who are in a position to invite NCS team in for recruitment and promotional purposes
• Following up on expressions of interest from school events and encouraging young people and parents to sign up to the programme
• Assisting in the presentation of NCS and any other educational benefits of the programme effectively to different audiences
• Support the Programme Manager in the day-to-day management of the NCS contract.

Skills and Experience

Required skills and experience:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, confident presenting skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Being approachable, enthusiastic and excited about working with young people
  • Own transport, willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours
  • A minimum of 2 A-Levels or an equivalent Level 3 Diploma
  • GCSE English Language at a minimum of a Grade B (or equivalent Level 2 qualification). OR achievement of a Level 2 in Literacy Assessment at interview stage.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to prioritise busy work schedule and run a number of projects concurrently
