About the role

We are recruiting for a Construction Project Manager to work within our innovative Development and Asset Management Department. You will be part of our team responsible for delivering of our new development strategy, delivering over 100 genuinely affordable homes per annum over the next 10 years. Your first project will be to oversee the final phases of our flag ship scheme; New Lodge, a 151-bed care and extra care development in York.

You will proactively manage a team of consultants and the main contractor to ensure a successful delivery of our onsite projects ensuring projects are completed within budget and on time.

You will be responsible for carrying out a comprehensive risk assessment for each project and keep the risk register under regular review ensuring that the mitigation actions are taken in a timely manner.

Manage the Clerk of Works ensuring that the new homes we build are to a high standard in line with our specification requirements.

Client responsibility for ensuring all schemes are compliant with Health & Safety procedures & practices.

Responsibility for managing the handover and defects process, ensuring the properties are completed and handed over free of defects.

Lead on evaluating projects on completion to gain feedback and ideas from tenants, purchasers and colleagues, and use the knowledge gained to improve future projects and processes as appropriate by commissioning “lessons learnt” reviews and recommendations.

About you

You will have significant experience of the construction industry or housing sector new build development. You will demonstrate knowledge of the development and/or construction process, as well as the ability to manage complex construction projects to drive forward the delivery of high-quality new homes. 

Having strong interpersonal skills you will be able to build and maintain effective working relationships. Ideally you would have a recognised Construction/Technical/Design qualification, if not you will have a proven track record in delivery of quality construction in mixed tenure housing schemes.
