Faculty / Directorate
IT and Media Service Directorate (ITMS) ITMS is a forward-thinking and proactive centralised directorate that supports all of the organisations business technology including, Infrastructure, AV and Multimedia, Service Management, Applications and Systems support and Programmes and Planning.
Recent major investments include multimillion pound programmes to refresh our IT infrastructure and our core business systems, delivering transformative change underpinned by the implementation of SAP Finance, HR/Payroll, student lifecycle management and CRM. With these foundations in place the next stage is to deliver a digital revolution, leveraging opportunities provided by technologies such as cloud based services, data analytics, the Internet of Things and Office 365. Achievement of our ambitious strategy is dependent on hiring talented professional experts, and managing the risks to the safe and secure use of data.
Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the delivery of technical projects to meet business requirements ranging from university wide infrastructure and systems, through to targeted migrations from legacy applications to SAP. As the IT Portfolio Manager, you will engage with staff across ITMS and the broader university to plan and deliver an agreed portfolio of IT and AV projects, including managing the resource plans, project delivery and portfolio reporting. You will manage of team of seven permanent staff supplemented by temporary staff to meet capacity or knowledge shortfalls.
You will work with functional teams across ITMS working in collaboration with supplier and business staff to deliver the full range of project activity, and work collaboratively with specialists for architecture, .service management and security/governance to ensure best practice is following on implementing iT and AV.
Ideal Candidate
You will have substantial proven experience of managing the delivery of Information Technology projects, and on delivering combinations of technology, applications and data to work together to deliver business benefits. You will have great communication skills with the ability to elicit information from diverse stakeholders. You will have the ability to manage a model of resource utilisation and capacity management, of analysing portfolio information to identify patterns, issues and risks, and to convey important information to be used by key stakeholders to make decisions. You will have a mindset to make a difference to the live and experiences of staff, students and partners at the University.
