Permanent - Skills 4 Coach (Children)

Permanent - 3 days per week (22.5 hours) Salary GBP14,000 - GBP15,000 a year

The job role:

As Skills4 Coach (Children) you will provide support to children 17 years and under in our North and South women's refuge projects to help reduce the need for intervention from children's social care. You will identify the support needs of each child accessing the projects and support the child to settle and establish a healthy routine.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide support to children aged 17 and under who are residing in both the North and South refuge projects and help new children to feel welcome and safe at the point of access
Conduct an initial assessment of the child to establish need and initiate relevant support measures
Develop innovative, flexible sessions that meet agreed outcomes for children through 1 - 1 and group therapeutic play sessions
Coordinate 1-1 sessions with parent's planned key-work where appropriate
Advocate on behalf of the child and attend child protection meetings
Strengthen partnership links with children's services, health visitors, schools, children's centres and other external organisations that will enable children to access additional support - i.e. counselling
Be the primary contact regarding child issues that involve the children who are or have resided at the refuge projects
In conjunction with the Skills4 Coach (Family), establish good relationships with the resident families to promote engagement
Develop a culture of participation by providing a range of fun and stimulating opportunities/ play activities for children to engage with
Support children through the transition to resettlement process
Skills and qualifications

Enhanced DBS
First Aid Certificate
You must be able to drive and have your own transport
Experience of planning, organising and delivering therapeutic play through 1 - 1 and group sessions
Experience of dealing with a range of issues facing children and families from a variety of backgrounds.
