England’s largest land manager and custodian of the nation’s public forests, are currently seeking a Machine Operator based in Bellingham, Northumberland and is offering a salary of £20,345 per annum to the right candidate.

The Role: 

A grader operator is required to operate the road grader machine in conducting road construction, leveling parcels of ground for further construction and creating road lines for other machinery needed construction sites.

The Candidate:

 Essential 

- Must hold a valid CPCS Blue Competent operator card for a grader category (A19). Minimum 5 years would be preferred. (Red Trained Operator card may be considered). 
- Evidence of recent regular grader operation in a civil engineering or mining environment. 
- Working knowledge of Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM) and the duties of operators. 
- Experience of following risk assessments and method statements. 
- Able to work in remote locations. 
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. 
- Understanding of environmental protection requirements in remote locations. 
- Ability to identify potential safety and environmental hazards. 
- Able to undertake daily machine maintenance / safety checks. 

Desirable 
- Experience of working within a forestry environment and involvement in waterbound forest road construction. 
- Experience of operating Volvo 930B graders. 
- Have an understanding of Provision of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and Control of Substances Regulations (COSHH). 
- Blue / Red CPCS card for Wheeled Loading Shovels. 
- Able to identify actual / potential machine faults.
