Category Specialist - Hull - GBP40,000

Chase and Holland are glad to be recruiting for a Category Specialist required to work within a leading business based in the Hull area of East Yorkshire. The purpose of this exciting role is to develop and implement the business procurement strategy for a defined category. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, key duties of the Category specialist will include:

• Managing all procurement activities across the defined categories - including best practice, continuous review and revision of policies and processes to maximise value for money
• Providing guidance and advice to staff on Procurement Policy to achieve best value for money
• Developing in-depth understanding and knowledge of the category supply chain to ensure compliance with all legislation
• Managing multiple suppler contracts and implementing supplier management strategies
• Participating in supplier/ partner tenders to agree SLA and KPIs
• Building and maintaining good relationships with both external and internal stakeholders
• Working closely with the Head of Procurement to implement specific category sourcing strategies
• Actively participating in the identification and implementation of operational improvements
• Reporting on the category performance to the procurement management

The successful candidate will have a strong procurement background and possess good commercial acumen. You will have strong attention to detail and have good interpersonal & communication skills. You will have a problem-solving approach to work and be comfortable interacting with various internal and external stakeholders. Previous Indirect buying experience within would be advantageous but not essential.
