For over 80 years, our client has been an industry leader in air movement technologies, serving a broad market base with a diverse range of products. Located in Hertfordshire, they are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide effective design solutions related to Sales Projects, together with Product Development of current and future equipment.
The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will manage and control complete projects or sub parts of large contracts to meet customer expectations and technical specifications. You will also assist in the establishment of good engineering practice within the department and the company as a whole and to produce concise, accurate and technically competent 2D and 3D CAD designs and technical specification of Mechanical capital equipment projects for a wide variety of drying and packaging systems.
On a day to day basis, your responsibilities will include:
The generation of detail drawings and Bills of Materials related to those designs
Liaising with Operations department to ensure that concise information is provided to ensure timely completion of all work
Liaising with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
Providing after sales technical and field service support.
Participating in customer demonstrations and product trials.
Writing and development of customers operating and maintenance manuals.
Assisting Operations Department in the generation/alteration of production drawings, as required.
It is expected that you will be proficient in the use of Solidworks 3D CAD package, although Mechanical Design Engineers with experience in other 3D CAD software will be considered. Ideally you will have Electrical design knowledge/appreciation i.e. sensors, plc's & inverters and be capable of creating/interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams. We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer educated to HNC in Mechanical Engineering or higher, with previous experience of designing special purpose machinery.
