A vacancy has emerged with one of our leading Local Authority clients in Central London for an Income Recovery Officer, in a temporary role lasting up to 3 months initially.

This is a full time role where the successful candidate will be expected to:
*Provide an income management service to customers in accordance with Housing Management policies, procedures and processes.
*To be responsible for maximising income collection from current tenants, former tenants, garage occupiers, unauthorised occupants and sundry debtors.
*To be responsible for managing a caseload of pre-determined properties/accounts within a designated Area Income Team as specified by the Area Income Team Manager
*Identify tenants falling into arrears and monitor existing cases to ensure that prompt action is taken and to ensure that the action taken is at all times within required timescales and in-line with the Council's rent arrears policy and procedure.
*Manage arrears cases from the point of making the initial contact with the customer, through to the service of the relevant Notice and appropriate court referral until the receipt of court hearing date stage of the recovery process.
*Ensure customers are aware of their responsibilities with regard to payment of rent and provide assistance and advice in regards to benefit entitlement and maximising any available means of income.
*Carry out home visits and facilitate surgeries within the Area Offices and other appropriate locations as required by customers and the service.
*Liaise with internal and external stakeholders where appropriate in order to ensure the effective management of arrears cases. This may include representing the Central Income Team at case conferences with other support agencies.
*Manage arrears cases from the court hearing date stage onward to ensure that prompt action is taken and to ensure that the action taken is at all times within required timescales and in-line with rent arrears policy and procedure.
*Be responsible for the day-to-day preparation, investigation, processing, collection and accounting of all direct deductions taken from benefit via DWP for current tenants in arrears.
*To be the main point of contact for the DWP in order to exchange information and resolve queries in relation to direct deductions as required and to proactively identify cases that are suitable for DWP direct in order to help maximise rental income.

You will be required to have the following skills:
*A good knowledge of Adult Social Care (ASC) income collection and debt recovery for community and residential ASC services provide by the Council
*The ability to show initiative when required to work as an individual to manage a caseload, and as part of the team
*Enthusiasm, and an ability to adapt to and implement changes in working practices
*Excellent communication skills, verbally and written, ability to communicate at all levels, from clients to Cllrs and LGO.
*The ability to explain and respond to detailed issues in a clear and concise manner
*Professionalism expected at all times; tactfulness, discretion and confidentiality to be maintained at all times
*The ability to prioritise work and meet defined targets and deadlines
*The ability to work under pressure at key times in the billing cycle and in a busy and often demanding environment
