Service Manager - Sussex House Day Service
Hours: 37 Hours per week (Mon-Fri)
Salary: GBP28,000
Reports to: Head of Children and Day Services

We are seeking a motivated and innovative Service Development Manager from a social care background to take on the day to day running of this growing service and to oversee and develop the business opportunities within our day service.

Sussex House Day Service is a dynamic resource centre in Battle. The centre supports adults with Autism Spectrum Conditions, Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs. This service prides itself on being service user led and offers a flexible model of support to meet the varying needs of those that access our service.

Main purpose of Job

To provide operational management of the service(s) to ensure optimum support to individuals is achieved. To ensure Aspens standards, policies and procedures are adhered to and that we comply with all current legislation and regulations associated with managing support services.

To provide direct support and supervision to Deputy Manager and staff as allocated including designated bank staff of the service.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be to:

Manage the Service and all matters relating to Service Users, adhering to policies and all legislative regulations

Develop and maintain positive relationships and communication with families, advocates, social services, local retailers, partnership organisations and other stakeholders where appropriate

Manage the staff team ensuring that staff teams are properly inducted, trained, supervised and appraised

Manage the staff team to ensure that safe practice and person-centred principles are adhered to

Ensure that the services are adequately staffed according to the daily program of activities for each Service User

Develop and manage existing and new projects

Manage the budgets of the service and actively seek out alternative funding opportunities to reduce reliance on local authorities

To ensure staff are aware of and implement safeguarding policies and procedures in accordance with best practice and in accordance with Aspens policy and procedures.

To ensure that individuals we support are supported to maintain their physical and mental well-being.

To maintain service-wide adherence to Aspens policy, procedures and guidelines.

To maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity and privacy of individuals in line with Aspens policies and procedures.

To ensure timely completion of reports as required by Senior management.

To ensure referral meetings, assessments, reviews, planning meetings for the people we support or intend to support are carried out in a timely manner and in line with best interests/practice.

To ensure staff induction, training development, staff supervision and annual appraisals are completed in line with policy and includes delivering training as required.

To work flexibly and engage in a variety of tasks required by the service(s) and to be a role model for all staff.

Essential Criteria:

QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification, or be willing to work towards the qualification

Understands the challenges for people with varying disabilities and committed to supporting people to have a quality lifestyle.

A thorough understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures including Deprivation of Liberty and Mental Capacity principles.

A working knowledge of current legislation and best practice in terms of social policy, CQC requirements and personalisation.

Management experience in the social care field or equivalent transferrable skills.

Knowledge of the value and principles of PBS (Positive Behaviour Support)
