About the Role…

You will provide a comprehensive welfare advisory service supporting our residents to maximise their income; you will manage your own caseload and ensure that quality advice is provided, striving to maximise residents income whilst supporting the JJH rent first culture.

You will work collaboratively with Income Services and Neighbourhoods to ensure that the standards, policies, practices and services are delivered in accordance with the JJH service offer, providing benefits and budgeting advice to residents whilst utilising external support agencies to ensure that our residents sustain their tenancies

What we’re looking for…

You will have an in depth knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit regulations, legislation and best practice across the housing sector.

You will have experience of supporting and advising residents claim Universal Credit, calculate benefit entitlement, completion of benefit forms and grant applications, submission of overpayment appeals and representation at Tribunals whilst supporting residents with their claims and acting as their advocate where required.

You will be able to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will work closely with the Income Expert on the delivery of targeted campaigns. You will be willing to support and assist colleagues by providing regular updates on Universal Credit in addition to delivering training across the organisation on Universal Credit and other Welfare Benefit updates.
