RSR Police are currently recruiting for Lead Investigation Officers to work on a temporary basis for up to 12 months.

Based in the Northampton area, as a Lead Investigation Officer, you will be responsible for leading criminal investigations to satisfactory conclusions.

The rate of pay offered is GBP14.17 per hour PAYE / GBP18.29 Umbrella.

Main duties and responsibilities

Perform the role of Officer in the Case (OIC) in PIP1 level (volume) crime
Prepare files to the required standard as agreed by Police and Crown Prosecution Policies
To perform the role of Disclosure Officer in cases, accepting the obligations of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA)
Update internal records, the Crime Recording System and submission of examination forms
To receive, develop and obtain evidence in relation to forensic intelligence
Liaise with police forces, outside agencies, and partners in the furtherance of investigating requirements
As directed to undertake all allocated tasks and activities in support of criminal investigations
Act as lead interviewer in suspect interviews
When appropriate to seize, handle and ensure continuity of exhibits. Recording of information, storage and preparation of exhibit lists and disposal of property
To assist with the conduct of identification procedures, including the completion of captures in the absence of an identification technician
To complete any other reasonable task in support of investigations
Person Specification

Experience as a Police Officer or similar law enforcement background operating at the equivalent of PIP1 investigator
Ability to communicate effectively verbally demonstrating tact, understanding, excellent listening skills, integrity and experience of being a lead interviewer in a Policing environment
Significant written communication skills to include experience of statement taking and report writing
Ability to make reasoned decisions in complex situations
Ability to manage pressured situations and remain effective and productive whilst maintaining high level of accuracy
Able to plan and organise workload in a methodical way to meet deadlines, recognising the organisations objectives and how their own work impacts on these
Able to demonstrate openness to change to include a flexible approach to both working environment and location
Highly motivated with the ability to work effectively as a team member with experience of developing positive working relationships with others
Computer literate with experience of windows based applications with the ability to research and interrogate databases
Must be able to travel across the county
