Summary of Role:
As a leading international defence organisation we have a unique opportunity for a Resource & Training professional - a "People" person - to join the Engineering Function. The role will support the growth and development of engineering capability across Raytheon Systems Limited, with particular focus on the training and development of our early career engineers.

Raytheon wishes to recruit a highly capable individual to focus upon
•Building, managing, leading and sustaining a cross-disciplined Engineering team (Special Response Team - SRT) who can provide flexibility and agility to be quickly deployed on existing engineering programmes.
•Developing a strong, sustainable training programme, in particular for all Early Career Engineers across the Engineering Function, working with the Heads of Engineering and their teams across all Mission (Business) Areas and HR.
•Developing the Tactical and Strategic Resource Management Process and Tools across Engineering, working within a cross-functional team.

This is the ideal role for a hands-on individual who has a passion in building strong capability and capacity for sustainable talent development within an engineering environment.

Due to Engineering being dispersed across multiple sites there will be the need for travel primarily within the UK, with some international travel to US and Canada.

Main Duties:
•Report to the Head of Engineering Performance Excellence.
•Line management of the "SRT" deploying across complex, diverse domain Engineering developments within Raytheon UK. Develop an engagement model ensuring prioritisation and mobilisation of the Engineers is managed effectively.
•From time to time, there may be a necessity for you to be deployed to programme execution duties.
•Work with the Engineering Leadership Team and HR to formulate a Resourcing and Training Strategy for Early Career Engineers, gain their buy-in and lead implementation of the strategy.
•Work with partners (e.g. Universities / Colleges, Training Providers, Professional Institutions & Agencies) to develop the talent pipeline and training frameworks required to meet the capability and capacity needs.
•Support the Profession Leads and Engineering Leadership in respect of training, identification of potential skills gaps and strategies to mitigate these gaps.
•Co-ordinate all Training Budget and be the conduit to HR's Learning and Development Team.
•Overall responsibility for the Tactical Resource Planning process and tools across Engineering, working with the Engineering LT and their direct reports; and ensuring there is effective interlock with the business areas and other functions. As a follow-on will be development of the Strategic Resource Plan for the Engineering function.
•Manage reach back into the US (corporate and businesses) to make best use of process assets for the Raytheon UK business.
•Play an active role in growing the capability of engineering within Raytheon UK, leading change where appropriate.

Candidate Requirements:

Skills and Experience
•Demonstrable skills in technical and developmental training within an Engineering Organisation / Environment
•Experienced in the hands-on execution, in particular task management and resourcing of engineering development projects/programmes across the engineering lifecycle.
•Knowledge, enthusiasm and demonstrable skills in leading multi-disciplined technical development teams.
•Demonstrable skills in communicating at multiple levels within an organisation, and able to influence and negotiate at each level, including developing strong business cases.
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to drive for Operational excellence across the Function and broader organisation, with resource planning being of particular interest.
•Engineering / Science Degree Level Qualification
•Training and Development Qualification desirable, but not mandatory.

•A positive outlook and a "can do" attitude, but able to say no.
•Decisive person who bases their decision on obtaining sound reasoning & data, then using the information to drive progress.
•Resilient and able to positively influence at all levels
•Ability to multi-task on several assignments and complete all to a high standard
•Ability to listen, understand issues and work collaboratively to resolve
.Degree Qualified Engineering / Science Preferred
.Professional Training Qualifications would be an advantage, but not mandatory
.Willing and able to obtain SC level MoD Security clearance.
