Our client has a permanent vacancy for a Control/PLC Systems Engineer, working night shifts.

Night Shift, Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, 40 hours per week, working between the hours of 19:00 - 07:00, flexible start & finish time.

You will be responsible for control & maintenance from initial install through to day-to-day operation to the highest standard possible, ensuring systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely working collaboratively with design engineers, operational engineers and other internal staff.

Developing, installing, managing, repairing and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes helping to deliver the Company's growth and automation projects.

Requires a thorough understanding of operational processes working closely with colleagues across a number of functions, including operations, purchasing and R&D.

The Role:

* Being able to use PLC's especially Siemens S7

* Provide preventative and breakdown maintenance as required in a fast-paced environment with minimal downtime.

* Assist in design and hazard analysis

* Calibration, testing, repair, adjustment, maintaining and modifying existing systems and replacement of components and assistance in commissioning of systems

* Trouble-shooting and advanced diagnosis to inspect and test the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults and verify repairs of electronic and or mechanical faults on production equipment to ensure efficient operation

* Establish and optimize process control strategies, developing new control systems, analysing data and presenting findings in written reports

* Liaise with external suppliers and sub-contractors in terms of viable and fit for purpose products/solutions, feeding back findings as necessary

* Maintain stock levels of critical parts in line with cost controls, repair parts, replacement recommendations and source spare parts as required

* Maintain backups, documentation and software revisions as part of maintaining computer-based control systems

* Work with operators to optimize control mechanisms providing advice and support

* Project management within cost and time constrained environments

* Communicate concise information at shift handover

Requirements:

Ability to retain knowledge of equipment, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Ability to correctly identify the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job

Engineering / Electrical knowledge, with the ability to read and understand technical drawings and wiring diagrams

5 years industry experience - manufacturing, control systems, material handling etc.

Experience with the installs and upgrading of systems

3 years general mechanical knowledge and electrical knowledge

Conveyor experience essential

An accredited degree or postgraduate qualification, PLC technician certificate or preferred, alongside practical hands-on experience

City & Guilds / NVQ or comparable qualification desirable

17th / 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671) City and Guilds 2382 qualification desirable.
