Substance Misuse Link Worker
Location: HMP Guys Marsh, Shaftesbury, Dorset
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week (to include some weekend working)
Salary: £18,685 to £23,230 per annum depending on experience
Contract: Permanent

The role of the Link Worker is to create pathways with the support services within the local and wider resettlement areas, ensuring a client’s continued engagement in support is encouraged by bringing resources into the prison, and by arranging through care within the community ahead of their release.

The post holder will work closely with community substance misuse services to ensure smooth transition and, where appropriate, will liaise with community healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care on release.

Day to day duties will include agreeing joint working arrangements (e.g. care pathways, referral mechanisms, information sharing, joint reviews, matching interventions) with community services, facilitating Prison/Community Forums, and identifying less ‘traditional’ opportunities for recovery activities (e.g. to take up hobbies/meet new people).

What the organisation is looking for

The successful applicant will have an understanding of substance misuse problems, and a recovery orientated approach. You’ll have experience working with individuals to develop, implement, and review action plans and will have delivered a range of evidence based substance misuse psychosocial interventions. An effective communicator, you’ll work closely with other related professionals, producing detailed written reports.

A qualification in a relevant field (e.g. health and social care, psychology, nursing or community development), whilst not essential, would be an advantage. Previous experience working in a similar recovery-oriented environment would also be advantageous.
