Job purpose
To research, prospect win and on-board profitable new Independent customers at a certain level within a designated territory exceeding sales/profit/margin targets, working alongside Area Sales Managers (ASM's) within the Regional Sales Team.
Operating Environment
Field based Business Development Manager with the primary focus of delivering new business in a defined territory in Independent Sales. The BDM territory can be adjusted within the RSM geographical region to reflect business needs and colleague/customer changes.
Operates in a sales target driven environment in a defined geographical area. The role works alongside the Area Sales Managers & Regional Accounts Execs as part of a regional sales team reporting to the Regional Sales Manager. Needs to be aware of competitor activity and behaviour in addition to the Brakes products and proposition to win and retain good quality new business.

You'll be dealing with the key decision makers - whether that be a head chef, manager, buyer or owner. You will also have autonomy over which businesses to target and the power to negotiate within the margins that you have - it's your Area, you decide.
Research and prospect potential new business opportunities for Brakes in defined area establishing accurate and relevant customer data to maintain a healthy pipeline and be able to produce a compelling proposition to win the business
Plan and secure appointments with potential customers, build strong commercial relationships, understand their business and requirement enabling the development of profitable and relevant propositions to secure numerous and regular customer wins and help their businesses thrive
Understand competitor activity and propositions to create the tailored proposals for customers and retain business long term
You'll be a natural go-getter with a real passion and drive to deliver results, relentless in seeking out every opportunity to identify and capitalise on customers' requirements.
