Pertemps are looking for a full-time Temporary Parade Gardens Attendant required to work in Bath.

Location: Bath

Salary: GBP9.55 per hour

Start date : ASAP

Duration: 4 months plus

Working Hours: Various Shift Patterns to cover the kiosk.

We are looking for an experienced Parade Gardens Attendant who actively enjoy meeting the public.

The successful Parade Gardens Attendant will be responsible for :

To provide front-of-house services to visitors of the Parade Gardens. This involves ensuring that all visitors are welcomed and informed in a friendly and courteous way and that admittance transactions are accurately processed and handled.

Processing public admittance payments and ensuring admittance tickets and change is accurately given. Handling cash, cashing up at end of day and storing cash for collection by others. Check visitors' tickets when required to do so for audit purposes.

Offering guidebooks and information to visitors at the entrance, courteously answering public enquiries about the garden its facilities and wedding hire/photo opportunities. Ensure that queuing arrangements at the kiosk are well managed and move smoothly and ease congestion when and where it occurs.

Be responsible for control of access to the gardens, including advising visitors on the by-laws and any other information relating to the gardens.

Ensure that a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness is maintained in and around the kiosk and entrance areas.

At the end of each shift carry out litter picking/bin emptying to the main areas of the garden. At the end of the afternoon shift pack away deck chairs to the designated location(s). Report any faults, damage or maintenance to Supervisor.

Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade that may be reasonably required by the Team Leader.

The post holder must wear the specified uniform and badge at all times.

The post holder will work to a rota that will include evening and weekend work.

The Parade Gardens Attendant will have:

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including Mathematics and English.

Candidates should demonstrate understanding and practice of the principles of good customer care, preferably gained within an attraction or visitor centre context or other busy public service environment.

Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required. Candidates must actively enjoy meeting the public. A sensitive and diplomatic response to visitor needs is essential.

Post holders must have till and cash handling experience and be able to work accurately under pressure.

The ability to lift and carry objects safely, in accordance with Manual Handling regulations, together with awareness of Health & Safety procedures and security of the public are essential. Knowledge of a foreign language, whilst not essential, would be an advantage.

Training will be provided in all areas including:

Entry charging tariffs and till operation
Cash handling and arrangements for record keeping and moving cash to the safe
Customer care.
Introduction to all parts of premises, evacuation routes and fire exits
Correct lifting and carrying procedures.

Most of the post holder's time will be spent in the entrance kiosk which can become hot in the summer. There will be a level of exposure to the elements during litter picking/deck chair collection duties at the end of each shift.
